♫ Brandy feat. Timbaland - Chinese (Home)

Singing sensation Brandy has so much previously unreleased material that it's not even funny.

It's been reported that Brandy had been in the studio with mega-producer, Timbaland to work on her last album, Human and "Chinese (Home)" are from those sessions. Rumors have circulate that in addition to work with Hit Boy of Surf Club, she has also logged some studio time with Timbaland again.

♫ Brandy - Today

In addition to working with Timbaland on the last album, she also teamed with Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, with whom she's been a muse for countless times before. "Today" is the fruit of some of their labor.

There's no official word on Brandy's new album will drop, but with a new reality show about to air, it shouldn't be long before we hear some real new material.

Precious Surprise

New York never ceases to amaze me. A long time ago, I can remember hearing an amazing vocalist perform at the Union Square subway station in Manhattan. An organization (I think carnegie hall) was sponsoring local buskers in a city-wide exhibition of underground talent (pun intended). Today, I discovered that this amazing performer I heard years ago was Alice Tan Ridley, the mother of Oscar-nominated actress, Gabourey Sidibe. Check out the link, you won't be disappointed.

Schooled

The usefulness of this kind of project cannot be understated. The kids learn about sustainable building, the local government saves money, etc. I believe that green design not only reinforces environmentaly sound progress and advancement, it the promotes simple yet rare values such as beauty and ease-of-use that sometimes get lost in commercial and municipal planning.

The METI school in Rudrapur Dinajpu, Bangledesh teaches the invaluable lesson of green design through its very earthen structure. Architects Anna Heringer and Eike Roswag directed a team of local parents, teachers, school children and craftsman in building the primary school by hand using raw materials including bamboo, straw, jute rope and the ancient building material cob (a layered mixture of wet earth, rice, straw and jute). Completed in just four months time, the collaborative effort has created a meaningful environment wherein rural children may pave a more fruitful future for themselves by receiving an education.

MOVIE TRAILER: JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT: THE RADIANT CHILD

I really wish I knew more about his work. I have to make some time to study more. But what I do know about his life and his work excites and troubles me. I wonder if some of the things that made him successful and full of ideas, also took his life in the end...

Check out the trailer of the documentary Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child, directed by friend Tamra Davis, which features never-before seen footage of the artist painting and talking about his art two years before his death in 1988 and sets the record straight following Julian Schnabel's fictional Basquiat.

The film, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance last month, was released February 21 and will be shown at SXSW next month.
