Spilling the Tea Party

The following video is of an incredibly well-crafted speech by Keith Oberman. I have to say that it analyzes an aspect of the Tea Party Movement that I hadn't really parsed out myself.

fashion legend alexander mcqueen passed away

My heart goes out to the McQueen family. I hope that this tragic moment will teach us all a lesson about personal struggle and priceless value of talent.

alexander mcqueen spring 2010

alexander mcqueen, the founder and designer of the alexander mcqueen brand died yesterday,
february 11, 2010 at the age of 40.
his body was found by his boyfriend in his mayfair, london, home.

alexander mcqueen spring 2010

alexander mcqueen made the most eccentric and provocative clothes for some of the richest
people on the planet. he represented the drama of fashion. famous for his sense of cut,
proportion and tailoring, mcqueen structured garments to change the shape of the body.
on catwalks he used wild hairstyles and make-up on his models and put them in those
lobster claw shoes and antlers.

there has never been anyone like him, and the world knew him as fashion's bad boy.
alexander mcqueen (born 16 march 1969) was the youngest of six children (a taxi-driver's son).
he dropped out of school at 16 to become an apprentice on savile row, worked for a few
designers before applying to teach at central saint martin's college of art and design. after
five-years as creative director for givenchy, he created his own label. as his originality
helped him gain popularity, he still struggled to create collections that main street boutiques could sell.
he was awarded a CBE for services to fashion, and won 'british designer of the year' four times.

his extraordinary talent and creativity mean that his designs are adored not just by followers
of haute couture but lovers of great style everywhere. this is a great loss to one of britain's most
successful industries and to the design world more widely. let's hope people will remember him
for the genius he brought to fashion.

recently alexander mcqueen launched the slightly cheaper McQ and went into partnership
with target. some magazines reported that McQ was selling out online within minutes
of his death announcement. mcqueen was due to show off his latest collection at paris fashion
week next month.

South Korean iPhone users turn to sausages as a cold weather 'meat stylus'

So, my question now is, what is Apple or its 3rd party accessory partners going to do about this predicament? What's the magical fix for this? I'd like to know.

Apple and HTC might each be trying to patent a fancy capacitive stylus, but it looks like the good people of South Korea have stumbled on a decidedly more low-tech (and delicious) solution to using their phones in the winter: sausages. Apparently snack sausages from the CJ Corporation are electrostatically compatible with the iPhone's capacitive touchscreen, leading many to use them as a "meat stylus" in the cold weather, rather than remove a glove. And it's not just a joke; apparently South Korean snack sausage sales are soaring. We don't know if anyone's managed to combine this bit of amazing hackery with the bacon iPod sleeve yet, but we do know that we just registered meatstylus.com -- anyone care to send in some local sausage test results?

Waldemeyer & Imogen Heap's Twitter dress do the Grammys

I have to say that this is not only a great new media for advertising and public service anouncements, it's looks pretty cool.

Waldemeyer writes...

Imogen Heap wears Twitter dress at the Grammys... Say hello to our new creation: after video dresses and laser dresses here is one that connects Imogen to her fans directly via Twitter. When Imogen walked the red carpet to collect her Grammy, fans could send messages and photographs directly to her dress. The messages scrolled across the collar while the images were displayed on her Fendi handbag. How does it work? The Fendi bag contains an iPod Touch that receives the messages (thanks to Memo Akten for programming this). It displays the pictures and passes the text on to a flexible LED display in the collar.

Awesome.

I like the current wave of unusual stop motion animation. This clip is not as crazy and amazing as the heasploding Videogioco, but I like its simplicity. It was recorded using a webcam, with no post-production whatsoever. [Pink Tentacle]
